The project aims to restore 18,000 ha, with the objective to expand to 40,000 ha, on the edge of the Amazon Basin in the Vichada department in Colombia. The area is a significant global biodiversity hotspot, and the department is home to 68 endemic species from the IUCN red list. Next to supporting biodiversity, the project will also involve improvements and livelihood support for local people through, for example, job opportunities and financing local infrastructure such as health clinics.
